A class booking needs both a seat and an available instructor or room. Test those constraints together before choosing an app for your studio.
Decide whether you sell a seat, a pass or a membership
A single drop-in class reserves one seat in one session. A five-class pass creates a balance that the customer redeems over time. A membership may involve recurring billing and rules about what can be booked. Those are separate workflows; support for one does not prove support for the others.
Write down your actual policy: how many sessions a pass includes, when credits expire, whether a cancellation restores a credit, and whether no-shows consume one. Then ask the vendor to demonstrate that policy rather than accepting the word “subscription” as a complete answer.
Compare apps by the class operation
Cowlendar lists group bookings, bundles and subscriptions. Easy Appointment Booking lists booking packs and waitlists on Pro Plus. Meety documents bundles/subscriptions on Starter and waitlists on Business. Sesami lists group appointments on Pro. These are useful starting points, with different plan structures and prices.

Check what happens when a class fills up
Create a class with a capacity of three, then reserve three seats across different customers. Try adding a fourth. Next cancel one reservation and confirm the capacity and any waitlist update as expected.
Test multi-seat bookings separately. If a customer brings two friends, the booking should consume three places, not one. Decide whether you need each attendee's name or only the purchaser's contact information.
Make the timetable easy to understand
Use consistent class names, difficulty levels, durations and locations. Describe equipment provided, arrival time and any access instructions. A class description should let a newcomer decide whether the session is suitable without needing a support conversation.
On mobile, the customer should be able to see the date, start time, instructor and price without jumping between several pages. If you offer online classes, display the timezone and send the meeting link through the intended confirmation workflow.
Budget for the studio you are becoming
Calculate the next six months of expected bookings and revenue, then include staff logins, required integrations and any messaging or subscription charges. Some free plans are generous for a single service; they may still lack the pass or calendar behavior you need.

Pilot one recurring class
Start with one class type and two weeks of dates. Test payment, cancellation, a full class, a substitute instructor and a credit redemption if you sell packs. Keep your current attendance records until the new system's counts are reconciled.
