Shopify can collect restaurant reservations, but party size, tables and seating duration need an explicit capacity model. A generic appointment slot is not a full restaurant floor-management system.

## Choose between time slots and table management
A small venue offering a few fixed dinner sittings may only need reservations against a defined capacity. A busy restaurant with walk-ins, table combinations, staggered arrivals and variable dining times needs more detailed operational control.

Decide whether a booking reserves a seat, a whole table or a party within a service window. Do not multiply a simple appointment capacity by party size and assume the floor plan will work.

## Define each service window
Set lunch and dinner availability separately, including closed dates and private events. Specify the expected seating duration and the time needed before the next party arrives. Keep kitchen and staff capacity in mind: an empty table does not necessarily mean the restaurant can accept another large party at that moment.

For an illustrative 12:00–14:00 seating, test an arrival near the end of the window. The system should either enforce a latest arrival or clearly communicate the available dining time.

## Collect the minimum useful information
Ask for the reservation name, party size and a contact route. Offer a way to discuss accessibility or dietary needs privately where appropriate. Avoid promising that a free-text request is automatically accepted; explain when the team must confirm it.

Make several reservations with different party sizes. Move one party, cancel another and simulate a walk-in. Verify the team can see the current service without reconciling contradictory lists.
